Our Pastor

 Pastor John W. Lyons
October 31,1941 ~ December 15,2020

There will be no other teacher, friend, pastor like him, our hearts are broken but the Angels are singing and Pastor John is at peace in his heavenly body. God please give his family comfort.... may we live by his teachings.

His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’   Matthew 25:23

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—     where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lordthe Maker of heaven and earth.   Psalm121

Pastor Lyons has been in the ministry for over 50 years.  He has served churches in both Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.  He was the pastor of First Christian Church in New Castle, he served as a director of Family Services at the City Rescue Mission and recently served as Interim Pastor of the Eastside Baptist/Disciples of Christ Church in Sharon and Living Word Church in Hermitage.

He attended Youngstown University majoring in math and science.  After serving in the United Air Force he returned to YSU with a dual major in Elementary and High school education.  After answering his call to ministry he attended Bethany and Malone Colleges and then graduate work at the Braid Institute.

Pastor Lyons delivers a contemporary message with an old fashion evangelistic style of preaching that will hold the interest of both the young and the old.  His goal is to inspire you to have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and to equip the congregation to be relative in an ever challenging and changing world.

Pastor Lyons believes that Christians should  "Bear the Fruit of the Spirit"
                                                                                                                                   Galatians 5:22-25 NIV

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
